About Me |
I have enjoyed working with children for as long as I can remember, so naturally I became an elementary education major at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. I've taught second, third, fifth and my favorite grade of all fourth. I've taught at Lincoln School since 2013. I love this community so much that I am not only a teacher here but my own children also attend school in this district. I look forward to working with you and your child this school year. |
“All children have gifts, some open them at different times.”
This is a quote from renowned children's author, Patricia Polacco, that has inspired my teaching. This quote truly conveys my philosophy as a teacher that all children have the capacity for greatness; but not all their gifts are ready at the same time. I should also note that some gifts are not easily identifiable either. As parents and educators we have to nurture and support children's growth as they discover their talents. Below are three books by Patricia Polacco that explore the idea that children may not be what they are labeled and that each person has the capacity to grow and change.
